what is eastern sun therapies about?

Eastern Sun Therapies is about connection. Connection to self, connection to others. It’s also about presence and about dignity. It’s about getting to the bottom of things with awareness and authenticity. It’s about honesty, joy, easefulness, and living bountifully. It’s about de-stressing the things that cause us suffering. It’s about play and fun. It’s about liberation.

EST is about practicing, learning and enjoying these things, and about living less restricted and constrained lives. It’s about finding ways to get all of our genuine goodness to flow spontaneously, untainted by our defences and fears.

EST is about sharing with others, about caring, helping, assisting, and giving a hand-up to others. It’s about collaboration and teamwork. It’s about being able to be together. It’s about fostering closeness. It’s about paying close attention in a caring way, in an openhearted, compassionate, understanding, loving and forgiving way. It’s about empathy and about attunement.

This way of being, that we at EST aspire towards, allows one to live a dignified life. A life in which one respects oneself because one has faith in themself. This is a sense of self-respect that is born from living in a way that feels right. Being left with the only option of respecting oneself because of how well one lives, because of how well one holds oneself in their own world, and in the intersection of their world and the worlds of others.

Finally, it’s about relaxing. Being able to go out into the world and not having to think about these things, but to just be this new and different way of being, that works better for everyone.

This is what Eastern Sun Therapies is about.

What to expect…

Confidentiality: This space is designed for you, therefore what comes up and what is shared will not be disclosed outside of it.

A non-judgemental space: We recognise that we are multifaceted and what we experience to be “bad” about ourselves also needs to be held.

Collaboration: We will be doing the work together. We will be a team.

Goal setting: As much as our work together will be about the present, undoubtedly you will have a yearning for desired outcomes.

Self-awareness: Much of the work will be around bringing awareness to all aspects of yourself.

Challenges/discomfort: This work is not always easy. There will be times when you will be challenged.

Commitment: Therapy is a commitment. We will figure out what works best for you and then both commit to showing up and doing the work together.

Homework: The amount of time we spend together will not make up a very large portion of your overall day. It is therefore important to continue the work outside of therapy.

Change: It is not always easy or quick, but things will change for you.
